Rutherglen Accommodation

Rutherglen

Back in 1824 an exploration party led by Hamilton Hume and William Hovell traversed the local area on the approximate route of the Hume Highway. First settled in 1836 by James Lindsay Brown and Thomas Clarke at Gooramadda, John Ford and John Crisp at Wahgunyah and Joseph Bould at Boorhaman. The Main Street of Rutherglen was established and staked claims were selling for 10 pounds per foot. Rutherford was named after a small town in Scotland.

Rutherglen - the name is synonymous with wines to fortify, invigorate, enjoy and best of all, to leave you with a memorable tasting experience. The region embraces 19 wineries, each with its own history and expertise and which can provide you with a mixed case that will ensure lasting memories of your visit to this New South Wales/Victoria border wine wonderland.

The fine wine apart, there is a rich heritage of the art of viticulture locked into the Rutherglen area so allow yourself plenty of time to absorb it all.
